The black and gold of CSULB aren’t just the colors of our Shields keelboats, now they can be found on our club’s new PFDs.
Thanks to generous funding from the California Division of Boating & Waterways (DBW) Aquatic Center Grant Program, the Sailing Association was able to purchase two dozen new life vests for its instructional programs.
The PFDs — West Marine brand Medalist Life Vests — feature a stretch cargo pocket, and adjustable, neoprene-lined shoulders with reflective detail, and have a buoyancy of 16 lbs.
The club purchased the vests on November 12th and they were an instant hit with students, who were happy to trade in the old PFDs.
California State Parks Division of Boating and Waterways (DBW) promotes a safer and more enjoyable boating environment through grants to non-profit organizations, colleges, universities and local agencies operating in California that offer on-the-water training to enhance basic boating safety. More info is available at the DBW website.
And these don’t smell bad! Fancy!! Thank you, DBW!
