The worst California drought in a hundred years is still in full force, so no one in the CSULBSA could have guessed that ourĀ annual after-finals weekend in Mission Bay, San Diego would be canceled by rain for the first time ever.
But the Spring’s first substantial rainfall in Southern California on May 15th was enough for flooding near Mission Bay and triggered health warnings for the bay and ocean beaches.
With the camping sites, beaches and bay sailing all closed, the trip — which was scheduled for May 15 to 18 — was canceled.
No plans are set for rescheduling the trip, but the club is planning an alternative: a two-weekend Hobie sailing fest beginning May 30th.
