The CSULB Sailing Association and Shields Fleet 20 would like to congratulate Tatiana Misares on becoming the club’s newest Shields skipper.
Tatiana, who serves as the club’s Commodore (student president), passed her written test and on-water evaluation on August 19th and was welcomed into the ranks of Fleet 20.
“Tatiana challenged the 18-20 knot winds and white caps in the bay, used her strong boat handling skills and practical decision making to pass her sailing test,” said CSULB instructor Charlie Abbott. “We are lucky to have her as our Commodore and happy to welcome her to the fleet, officially.”
An undergraduate studying in the CSULB Department of Engineering, Tatiana became the second new Shields skipper of 2014, after Jeff “Hippie” Freed was welcomed in March. She now has 6 “provisional” sails to complete before earning her full Shields privileges.
